LED Figs facade is a computer controlled display system made of 300 green molded plastic pixels, each one about the size of a fig, which will be placed in the windows of the Kitchen Budapest Building. Thus KIBU will create a communication platform with the street outside by sending out data from the internet, like yesterdays weather, visits to our site and many other things that fit in 300 pixels on 30 meters.

Lánchíd 19 has a moveable, accordion-like glass facade with tiny painted graphics, chronicling the eco-system of the Danube. It is animated by the changing colors of an innovative lighting design concept, thus providing large pictures (e.g. of a fingerprint, a diver, a bottle or simply wavelets). Glass is one of the dominant materials in the interiors as well, creating a sense of openness and allowing movement to become an integral part of the building’s character.

The Palace of Arts building was opened in 2005, next to Danube river and part of the Millennium City Centre of Budapest. It incorporates a concert hall, the Festival Theatre and the Ludwig Museum as well. Two lighting systems can be used for the Media Facades Festival: the LED lights strips and the headlamps around the building which are operated by two different computer systems but can be used simultaneously.
The lights are attached in groups to the building‘s facade (horizontal and vertical). Their colour and intensity can be changed group by group.

Kitchen Budapest is currently making a workshop for 4-6 year-old children and imaging cities and citizens in drawings together. After the workshops, these drawings will provide the basis for the development of the visuals (figures) and movements.
